Facial Implants

Facial implant surgery utilizes biocompatible implants to enhance the balance and symmetrical proportions of the face, and is an effective treatment option for patients seeking a permanent way to restore or create aesthetically pleasing facial contours. Facial implants are available in a broad range of styles, sizes, and materials, and can be used augment, reconstruct, or rejuvenate existing facial structures.

The three most popular types of facial implants are:

  • Jaw implant: increases the width of the lower third of the face, thereby creating a “stronger” or more well-defined jawline
  • Chin implant: augments the projection and size of a recessed or weak chin
  • Cheek implant: restores or augments volume in flat or recessed cheeks, and enhances the prominence of the cheekbones

Facial implant surgeries are complex procedures necessitating extensive knowledge of facial anatomy and structural proportions, and should only be performed by a plastic surgeon, such as Dr. Hani Sinno, M.D., who takes pride in helping his patients achieve enhanced facial symmetry and balance with facial implant surgery at his private practice in Montreal, Quebec.

Facial implant surgery is performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia, and takes approximately 1-2 hours (unless performed in conjunction with other facial contouring procedures as part of an overall facial rejuvenation).  The chin, jaw, and cheek implant procedures involve similar surgical patterns and techniques, and Dr. Sinno will begin each surgery by making a small initial incision close to where the implant will be placed (typically in a facial crease or inside the mouth), and will then create a pocket within the facial tissue, before inserting the implant, and securing it into place.

After closing the incision, Dr. Sinno will use tape or bandages to prevent the implant from shifting in response to facial swelling during the first few days of the recovery period. Most facial implant patients are able to resume normal activities approximately one week after surgery.

Dr. Sinno and his well-trained team members have worked to create a welcoming, healing office environment, and will take the time to thoroughly explain your facial implant procedural details and options. Your facial implant treatment plan will be uniquely customized to reflect your specific aesthetic goals, and you can be assured that you will have the best possible patient care throughout your aesthetic enhancement experience.
